FRUIT BODY: Up to 0.4cm wide (per fruit body).  A neat little carbonaceous pyrenomycete that grows in clusters with each dark structure barely reaching 1cm in height.  The heads are grooved. FLESH: Red and very hard and somewhat brittle. SPORES: Allantoid, hyaline, smooth. up to 7µm x 2µm. HABITAT: On twigs and branches various deciduous trees. SEASON: Frequent. EDIBILITY: Inedible.
